NO PLACE LIKE HOME

I was going south, south of Mexico City. I took the subway and I saw this kid sleeping on the bench. This pik, which I personally love, was very criticized. Some people say that the author had no respect for other’s daily suffering in the moment she took it. Other say because it becomes a journalism document then it is demonstrating a reality that in some other way won’t be known. So , since it is published, it is helping people to know that life is not pink color for everybody and that it’s even worst for kids with no home. what are the limits of journalism? What’s ethical and what it is againts its principles? Judge yourself (not only in this picture) and leave your remarks.

  1. I dont feel there is any suffering in this photo! T

There are photos that potray people who are facing extremeties in life and some of those photos are even acknowledged as masterpieces.

If at all you post photos of people suffering, it is for the good only, coz people are going to take notice there are worlds out there where people are not as lucky as they are.

    So, Good photo!

  2. I deeply appreciate you comment Rajesh!!!
If you like photojournalism you may have heard about James Nachtwey. Some of his photos are shocking but they have been selected, as you said, like masterpieces. In his documentary, “war photographer” he finds himself as a person who is helping others because he is telling people “hey, this is the real world”. In some cases people that saw his photos have sent some money for the ones that were photographed. I think that helps, otherwise the world would have keep on going without noticing them. It’s better than doing nothing.
